United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has decided to appoint Judge Theodor Meron of the United States as President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, for a new term commencing on 1 March.
Concluding its annual session today, the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on Strengthening the Role of the Organization adopted its 2015 draft report and forwarded its recommendations to the General Assembly.
Concluding the general debate for the session, speakers at the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization called for renewed political will to overcome divergent views and hammer out an agreement on how to move forward in several areas of maintaining international peace and security.
