NEW YORK, 17 December (OCHA) -- Recent assessments undertaken by United Nations aid agencies in Côte d’Ivoire reveal that humanitarian needs are growing in the north of the country.

UN SEEKS $6.4 MILLION TO HELP PHILIPPINES IN WAKE OF STORMS

 


NEW YORK, 15 December (OCHA) -- Today, the United Nations launched a flash appeal to meet the relief and emergency rehabilitation needs of those affected by four consecutive typhoons and tropical storms that left some 1,500 people dead or missing over the past few weeks.  The appeal was prepared in close consultation with the Government of the Philippines and the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.

UN AID AGENCIES LAUNCH APPEAL FOR DROUGHT-STRICKEN BOLIVIA

SECRETARY-GENERAL SEEKS $1.7 billion for ‘FORGOTTEN CRISES’


NEW YORK, 11 November (OCHA) -- The United Nations Secretary-General has requested $1.7 billion to help people survive a web of forgotten humanitarian crises, mainly in Africa.  "We are here today to sound an alarm on behalf of

26 million people struggling to survive the ravages of war and other emergencies", Kofi Annan told North American, European and Japanese donor Governments in New York today.
