The Human Rights Committee this afternoon continued its consideration of its draft general comment on article 3 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by reviewing paragraphs 17, 18, and 21.
The second periodic report submitted by the Republic of the Congo was outdated, one of the experts on the Human Rights Committee said this morning, as the Committee concluded consideration of that countrys compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The Human Rights Committee this morning adopted its agenda and programme of work, as orally revised, as it began its sixty-eighth session. The Committee will consider reports submitted by the Governments of the Republic of the Congo, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Mongolia and Guyana on their compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The Government of the Republic of the Congo was deeply concerned with the whole issue of human rights, especially since much had been written about the human rights situation in the country in the past few years, its Permanent Representative, Basile Ikouebe, told expert members of the Human Rights Committee this afternoon.
Committee Will Consider Reports By Republic of Congo, Guyana, Mongolia, United Kingdom and Venezuela
