Meeting today amid spiking tensions in the Persian Gulf, the Security Council considered the status of a 2015 deal governing Iran’s nuclear activities, with Tehran voicing frustration that its long‑standing compliance and “strategic patience” has failed to dissuade the United States from imposing new sanctions.
After three sessions of work spanning a period of four months in New York and Geneva, the 2019 Group of Governmental Experts on the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms concluded its work on Friday.

From 26 to 28 March, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004) in cooperation with the Commission of the African Union, and with the financial support of the European Union, convened a training course for 1540 national points of contact from English-speaking African States in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
