GENEVA, 16 May (UN Information Service) -- The Conference on Disarmament this morning held the first plenary of the second part of its 2002 session by hearing its President say that he was encouraged by consultations on how to de-block the current impasse in the Conference.

DISARMAMENT COMMISSION DICUSSES POSSIBLE DELAY IN HOLDING 2002 SUBSTANTIVE SESSION


The Disarmament Commission will meet next week to decide whether or not to delay its 2002 substantive session owing to extraordinary circumstances, primarily the packed United Nations calendar.

UNITED NATIONS AND CHINA TO HOLD INTERNATIONAL DISARMAMENT CONFERENCE IN BEIJING


NEW YORK, 26 March (Department for Disarmament Affairs) -- On 2 April, the United Nations Department for Disarmament Affairs and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will co-host a three-day international conference on “A Disarmament Agenda for the 21st Century.”
