Although greeted with some initial suspicion, a recent visiting mission to New Caledonia was generally well received, the Special Committee on Decolonization heard today.
The United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization will undertake an Official Visiting Mission to New Caledonia and Paris, France from 9 to 18 March.
Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson told the Special Committee on Decolonization as it opened its 2014 substantive session that it was becoming loud and clear and that the time was opportune to push forward on pending issues.
