COUNCIL EXTENDS UN PREVLAKA MANDATE FOR SIX MONTHS
Unanimously Adopts Resolution 1335 (2001)
The Security Council this afternoon authorized United Nations military observers in Prevlaka to continue monitoring the demilitarization of the Prevlaka peninsula -- a strategic area disputed by Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia -- for a further six months until 15 July.

NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN JANUARY
In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for January:
Security Council
Kishore Mahbubani (Singapore) succeeds Sergey V. Lavrov (Russian Federation) as President of the Security Council.
Military Staff Committee
In accordance with paragraph 12 of Security Council resolution 1333 (2000), the Committee is actively working on a list of organizations and governmental relief agencies providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan that shall be exempt from the prohibitions imposed by paragraph 11 of Security Council resolution 1333 (2000) and paragraph 4(a) of Security Council resolution 1267 (1999).
