Security Council: Press Release

The following Security Council press statement was issued today by Council President Ramlan Bin Ibrahim (Malaysia):

On 22 August 2016, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) enacted the amendments specified with underline and strikethrough in the entry below on its ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 2 of Security Council resolution 2253 (2015) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations:

On 18 August 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1970 (2011) concerning Libya updated its Implementation Assistance Notice no. 3.

On 5 August 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic held informal consultations to consider the midterm report of the Panel of Experts, submitted pursuant to paragraph 23(c) of resolution 2262 (2016). 

On 5 August 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic heard a briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Sexual Violence in Conflict pursuant to paragraph 29 of resolution 2262 (2016).

On 12 August 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1518 (2003) approved the removal of the two entries specified below from its List of Individuals and Entities subject to the assets freeze set out by paragraph 23 of Security Council resolution 1483 (2003) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations:

The members of the Security Council welcomed the signing on 8 August of the Roadmap Agreement by the Justice and Equality Movement, the Sudan Liberation Movement-Minni Minnawi, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, and the National Umma Party.
