The Secretary-General has been following closely and with concern developments in Ukraine over the weekend as that nation struggles to resolve the crisis that has developed over the run-off presidential election on 21 November.

On 23 November, the Secretariat met with representatives of the Group of Friends of the Secretary-General for Georgia at the United Nations in New York.

Early on Friday morning, 19 November, Secretary-General Kofi Annan left Nairobi for Tanzania’s commercial capital, Dar-es-Salaam, where he attended the International Conference on Peace, Security and Development in the Great Lakes Region.
