Statement by middle east quartet
Following is the text of a statement issued by the Quartet ( United Nations, Russian Federation, United States and European Union):
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by his wife Ban Soon-taek, arrived in Nairobi, Kenya from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday afternoon, 30 January. They immediately visited Kibera, one of the largest slums in Africa.
On Sunday evening, 28 January, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by his wife, Madam Ban Soon-taek, arrived in Addis Ababa from Kisangani in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the eve of the opening of the African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital.
In the early morning of Saturday, 27 January, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by his wife, Madam Ban Soon-taek, arrived in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, from Paris, France, following refuelling stops in Cairo, Egypt and Entebbe, Uganda.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Paris from Brussels in the evening of Wednesday, 24 January.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon began his travels to Europe and Africa early on Wednesday, 24 January, when he arrived in Brussels, where he held a series of meetings with key officials of the European Union, NATO and the Belgian Government.
