The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Madam Ban Soon-taek travelled to Washington, D.C., on Monday afternoon, 16 July.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Madam Ban Soon-taek arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday, 4 July, following an official visit to Italy.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Madam Ban Soon-taek arrived in Rome on Tuesday, 3 July.  There, the Secretary-General attended the Conference on the Rule of Law in Afghanistan.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Madam Ban Soon-taek arrived in Geneva on Sunday, 1 July, and visited the monument to Sergio Vieira de Mello and to the 21 other United Nations staff who were killed in Baghdad on 19 August 2003.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon paid a surprise visit to Kabul on Friday, 29 June, his first to Afghanistan since taking up his post.
