19970304 The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General has learned with sorrow of the devastation caused by the earthquakes which have struck Iran and Pakistan in recent days. He will be sending messages of condolences to the Governments of Iran and Pakistan.
