Council Briefed by Presidents and Chief Prosecutor of Two Organs

The Security Council met today to take up the International Criminal Tribunals for the Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. As it did so, it was briefed by the Presidents and Prosecutor of those two organs.

COMMITTEE APPROVES FOUR DRAFTS ON PALESTINIAN RIGHTS

Taking action on four draft resolutions this morning, the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People approved one text by which the General Assembly would stress the necessity for commitment to the principle of land for peace, and to the implementation of Security Council resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973).

OVERSIGHT OFFICE REPORTS TAKEN UP BY FIFTH COMMITTEE

The increase in the activities over the past year of the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) was testimony to the fact that the groundwork of almost six years had borne fruit, the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) was told as it took up its agenda item on the activities of that Office.
