UN POPULATION FUND AIRLIFTS REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SUPPLIES


TO EL SALVADOR QUAKE VICTIMS


NEW YORK, 26 January (UNFPA) -– The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) today announced it is airlifting reproductive health supplies to victims of the recent earthquake in El Salvador. The supplies are scheduled to ship early on Monday.

UNITED NATIONS COMPENSATION COMMISSION PAYS OUT $1.4 BILLION

UN AGENCIES LAUNCH SIX-MONTH RECOVERY PROGRAMME FOR EL SALVADOR


GENEVA, 26 January (OCHA) -- The United Nations will launch an Inter-Agency Appeal for $34.9 million today, for humanitarian assistance and initial rehabilitation to address the devastation caused by the powerful earthquake in El Salvador.  The earthquake measured 7.6 on the Richter scale, and hit El Salvador on 13 January.  The appeal will be launched in San Salvador at 9 a.m. local time.
