GENEVA, 31 May (UN Information Service) -- A representative of Belarus this morning informed the Conference on Disarmament that the Parliament of Belarus had ratified the Open Skies Treaty on 17 May 2001.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan travelled to Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday afternoon, 27 May, to receive a Doctor of Laws degree honoris causa awarded to him by Brown University, in recognition of his contribution to world peace.
