OF HUMANITARIAN, DISASTER RELIEF ASSISTANCE
The General Assembly this afternoon adopted 14 resolutions on strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance. It adopted those texts without a vote.

OF UNITED NATIONS PEACEKEEPING FORCE IN CYPRUS
Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced today the appointment of Major-General Jin Ha Hwang of the Republic of Korea as Force Commander of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) to succeed Major-General Victory Rana who relinquishes his post on 15 December 2001.
