UNEP, major institutional Investors Join Forces To Launch

New ‘Responsible Investment Initiative’

LONDON/NAIROBI, 15 July (UNEP) -- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will work with major institutional investors to develop a set of globally recognized principles for responsible investment by September 2005.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, 9 July, where he would open the Fifteenth International AIDS Conference the following day.

JUAN GABRIEL VALDES APPOINTED SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE

AND HEAD OF UN MISSION IN HAITI

The Secretary-General has decided to appoint Juan Gabriel Valdes of Chile as his Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).  Ambassador Valdes will take up his position in August 2004.
