The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan:


The Secretary-General is encouraged by the agreement between the Government of Iraq and the Sunni Conference enabling the return of their Conference representatives to Iraq’s constitutional drafting committee.

The Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee on 25 July 2005 approved the addition of information for one entity in the Al-Qaida section of its Consolidated List (the changes have been marked with cross-through and underline in the entry below).

SECURITY COUNCIL FORWARDS LIST OF AD LITEM JUDGE CANDIDATES


FOR FORMER YUGOSLAVIA TRIBUNAL TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY

 


With the number of candidates for ad litem judges for the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia still falling short of the minimum number required by the court’s Statute, the Security Council this morning forwarded a list of 34 candidates to the General Assembly.
