The High Commissioner for Human Rights said today that the latest reports of civilian deaths and injuries in Syria revealed a “monstrous disregard for civilian lives by all parties to the conflict”. He urged all sides to step back from a return to all-out war.

The African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) is calling for restraint after a recent outbreak of violence in East Darfur ended in an attack in El Daein on Monday. The Operation also calls on all parties involved to refrain from acts that could further aggravate the situation.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says countries bordering South Sudan have reported a rise in the number refugees fleeing the country. Meanwhile, sharp funding shortfalls for a regional response plan were threatening many life-saving services.
The Secretary-General condemns the killing of a peacekeeper from the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the town of Rafai and calls on the newly elected Government to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
