MANAGUA, 31 May — Opening the Pacific Regional Seminar on Decolonization today, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the focus on commitments and actions within the framework of the third International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2011-2020).
The Special Committee on Decolonization will hold the 2016 Pacific Regional Seminar in Managua, Nicaragua from 31 May to 2 June with a view to accelerating action in implementation of the third International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2011‑2020).
Delegates called for a more detailed picture of funding needed by the Secretariat to help implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, as the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) considered the Secretary-General’s report on the subject.
