The Economic and Social Council today appointed an additional member of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti, adopting three decisions including those on geospatial information and enlargement of the Executive Committee of the Programme of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The Economic and Social Council used the past year to advance the Organization’s unwavering commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a high-level meeting that zeroed in on the challenges created by the escalation of socio-economic divisions around the globe, the Council’s President told the General Assembly today.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today closed its resumed session for 2022, which began on 29 August, approving its report and recommending that the Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to 173 entities out of the 564 applications it examined. The Committee deferred 319 requests for further consideration during its ordinary session in 2023, according to Vice-President Mine Ozgul Bilman (Türkiye).
The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations this morning recommended that the Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to 170 civil society organizations after examining a total of 564 requests and 317 quadrennial reports.
