Appointments

The following announcement was made today by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki‑moon:

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Mamadou Diallo of Guinea as the Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), where he will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Mourad Wahba of Egypt as his Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where he will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). 

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Mbaranga Gasarabwe of Rwanda as his Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), where she will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Robert Piper of Australia as Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, at the level of Assistant Secretary-General.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Jean Todt of France as his Special Envoy for Road Safety.  Mr. Todt is the president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Peter Jan Graaff of the Netherlands as his Acting Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER).

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania as his Special Envoy for Yemen.  In this role, Mr. Ould Cheikh Ahmed will work closely with the members of the United Nations Security Council, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Governments in the region and other partners, as well as the United Nations Country Team for Yemen.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Philippe Lazzarini of Switzerland as his Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon, where he will serve as Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative in the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL).

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Ali H. Al-Za’tari of Jordan as his new Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), where he will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
