19980121 Biographical Note Secretary-General Kofi Annan has appointed Nadia Younes as United Nations Chief of Protocol. Ms. Younes, who assumed her new post on 19 January, succeeds Livio Muzi Falconi.Prior to her appointment, Ms. Younes was the Director of the Media Division, Department of Public Information (DPI).

Biographical Note Former Permanent Representative to United Nations Becomes First Person To Hold Newly Established Post
Secretary-General Kofi Annan this afternoon announced the appointment of Louise Fréchette of Canada as his Deputy Secretary-General, the first person to hold the post since it was established by the General Assembly last month. She is due to assume her new responsibilities at the end of February 1998.
