United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Charles Petrie of the United Kingdom/France as his new Executive Representative for Burundi and Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in that country and United Nations Resident Coordinator, Resident Representative, Humanitarian Coordinator and Designated Official for Burundi.

Following consultations with the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Anthony Lake (United States) as the agency’s new Executive Director, and expressed his gratitude to Ann Veneman for her services to the Organization and her commitment in leading UNICEF for five years.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has selected the members for the new High-level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing that will work to mobilize the financing promised for climate change during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen last December. The Secretary-General announced the launch of the Group on 12 February.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Margot Wallström of Sweden as his Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict. Ms. Wallström has been a long-time advocate of the rights and needs of women throughout her political career -- first as Swedish Minister and later as Environment Commissioner and Vice-President of the European Commission.
