Following is UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ video message for the seventy‑fourth session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Bangkok today:

From 7 until 11 August 2017, in cooperation with the United Nations Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004), China hosted a training course in Xi’an for 1540 national Points of Contact in the Asia-Pacific region.

The United Nations refugee agency said today it is deeply shocked and saddened at reports of deaths and injuries suffered by internally displaced people in an aerial attack on embattled Mawza District in Yemen’s Taizz Governorate.  Civilian casualties are still being verified, but initial reports indicate at least 20 people killed, including women and children.
