Concluding Resumed Session, Budget Committee Approves Texts on Financial Outlays for 15 Peacekeeping Missions in 2015/16, Cross-Cutting Issues

Concluding its second resumed session, the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) today sent 22 draft resolutions and one decision to the General Assembly, asking the world body to authorize the allocation of $8.26 billion to finance 15 peacekeeping missions for the year beginning 1 July 2015 and to take action on a number of pressing issues, including responding to recent allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse.

Budget Committee Recommends Authorizing Extra $80 Million to Maintain United Nations Mission in Mali

The Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) today recommended that the General Assembly authorize an additional $80.33 million to finance the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) for the year ending 30 June 2015.

Concluding Second Resumed Session, Fifth Committee Approves Texts on Peacekeeping Budget, Increasing Troop Reimbursement Rates

Concluding its second resumed substantive session, the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) today recommended financial arrangements for 12 United Nations peacekeeping operations for the year beginning on 1 July 2014, which, once approved by the General Assembly, would total $5.6 billion, and authorized the first increase in reimbursement rates for troop-contributing countries in more than a decade.

Fifth Committee Considers Proposed $313 Million to Cover Initial Costs of United Nations Mission in Central African Republic

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) would need $313 million to meet its immediate and essential start-up costs for the period from 10 April 2014 to year-end, a senior United Nations official told the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) today.
