Secretary-General Condemns Deadly Terrorist Bombing in Istanbul, Demanding Perpetrators of ‘Appalling Violence’ Face Justice

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General condemns today’s bombing in central Istanbul, which is reported to have killed and injured dozens of people.  This is the latest in a recent series of terrorist attacks in Turkey.  The perpetrators of this appalling violence must be brought to justice, consistent with human rights obligations.

The Secretary-General extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of today’s attack and to the people and Government of Turkey.
