Secretary-General, Concerned over Developments in Comoros Elections, Urges All Parties to ‘Play by the Rules’, Refrain from Violence
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General is following with concern the developments in Comoros since the publication by the National Independent Electoral Commission of the provisional results of the primary elections of the President of the Union of Comoros and the first round of the elections of the Governors of the Islands of Grand Comoros, Anjouan and Mohéli.
The Secretary General urges the Government, the candidates and all the other actors and institutions involved in the electoral process to play by the rules and refrain from the use of violence.
