Secretary-General Announces Intention to Appoint Patricia Espinosa Cantellano of Mexico Executive Secretary of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has started the process of consultation with the Conference of Parties through its Bureau, and has informed of his intention to appoint Patricia Espinosa Cantellano of Mexico as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Ms. Espinosa Cantellano has more than 30 years of experience at the highest levels in international relations, and is specialized in climate change, global governance, sustainable development and protection of human rights. Currently Mexico’s Ambassador to Germany — since 2012 and earlier from 2001 to 2002 — she was Minister for Foreign Affairs between 2006 and 2012.
