New Permanent Representative of San Marino Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of San Marino to the United Nations, Damiano Beleffi, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.
Mr. Beleffi has been Chargé d’affaires of San Marino to the United Nations since May 2016, having served in the five months prior as Minister Plenipotentiary to the United States. Between 2007 and 2012, Mr. Beleffi was San Marino’s Ambassador to Germany, a post he held concurrently while serving as Ambassador to Canada, from 2011, and as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, from 2008.
Between 2001 and 2008, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of San Marino to the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, France. Between 1998 and 2001, he was Head of the Finance Department at the Ministry of Finance and Budget.
Fluent in Italian, English and French, he holds a master’s degree in political sciences from the University of Genoa, Italy.
Mr. Beleffi is married and has two daughters.
