New Permanent Representative of Gabon Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Gabon, Baudelaire Ndong Ella, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ndong Ella was Gabon’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, having served as Deputy Permanent Representative to the African Union from July 2009 to February 2011 with a short break during which he was Deputy Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

From 2007 to 2009, he served as Chargé d’affaires ad interim at the country’s embassy in Ethiopia, as well as in the Permanent Mission to the African Union, Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), having been appointed initially as First Counsellor at those entities in 2005.

He headed the Division of the United Nations at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1996 to 2005, having started out his diplomatic career as Research Officer in the Ministry’s Africa Directorate in 1995.

He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in public law from Omar Bongo Ondimba University, Gabon.

Born in 1967, he is married and has five children.
