New Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire to the United Nations, Claude Stanislas Bouah-Kamon, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Bouah-Kamon served as his country’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom since 2011.  He was Technical Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs in Abidjan from 2004 to 2010 and served as Director of Political and Humanitarian Affairs from 2002 to 2004.  From 1996 to 1999, he was Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva and Vienna.  Prior to that position, he was Ambassador to Algeria from 1994 to 1996.

A career diplomat, Mr. Bouah-Kamon has held advisory roles in the Foreign Ministry since joining it in 1976, including as Deputy Director for Technical Assistance with France.

Mr. Bouah-Kamon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire.  Born in 1949 in Abidjan, he is married and has three children.
