Economic and Social Council Adopts Draft Text Establishing Working
Arrangements for 2015 Session
The Economic and Social Council today adopted a draft decision that established its working arrangements for its 2015 session.
Continuing its organizational session, the Council acted without a vote to approve a draft entitled “Working arrangements for the 2015 session of the Economic and Social Council” (document E/2015/L.1).
Council President Martin Sajdik ( Austria) said the draft text was revised so that the relevant paragraph reflected that the high-level political forum would start on Friday, 26 June, and continue from Monday, 29 June, to Wednesday, 8 July.
The representative of Bolivia, speaking on behalf of the “Group of 77” developing countries and China, promised his full support for the forum’s work.
The representative of the Republic of Korea welcomed progress in the coordination and management segment and requested cooperation and compromise to agree on the remaining draft decisions by the end of the week.
The representative of Brazil also spoke.
A representative of the European Union Delegation also spoke.
The Economic and Social Council will meet again at a date and time to be announced.
