Secretary-General Says United Nations Ready to Support
Humanitarian Response to Floods in Argentina
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General is saddened by the loss of life and the damage to homes and infrastructure in Argentina as a result of the torrential floods in the capital, Buenos Aires, and in the city of La Plata on 2 April. He extends his sincere condolences to the Argentine Government and people, particularly the families of those who have perished or been otherwise affected in this disaster.
The United Nations stands ready to lend its assistance to efforts to respond to humanitarian needs created by the disaster and to mobilize any international support needed.
