Second Committee Elects Bureau for Sixty-Seventh General Assembly Session

The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) of the General Assembly today elected, by acclamation, George Wilfred Talbot ( Guyana) as Chair of its sixty-seventh session.

Prior to his appointment as Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Talbot’s work was focused on economic, social and political issues through a variety of diplomatic posts, including as a member of the Guyanese delegation when the country chaired the Group of 77 developing countries and China, in 1999.

Also today, the Committee elected by acclamation Stefano Stefanile (Italy) and Tauhedul Islam (Bangladesh) as Vice-Chairs, and Aida Hodžić(Bosnia and Herzegovina) as Rapporteur.  One vacancy for the position of Vice-Chair from the Group of African States remained, as the Group required more time for consultation.
