Secretary-General Calls for Consultations on Interim Government in Tunisia
The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General renews his concern about the growing violence in Tunisia and urges all efforts be made to restore peace and stability. The Secretary-General appeals for broad-based consultations in Tunisia to establish an inclusive interim Government, leading to the holding of timely and credible elections through which the citizens of Tunisia can freely choose their leadership. The United Nations stands ready to provide assistance to the Tunisian people.
