Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Visit Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

The following statement was issued on Sunday, 31 January, by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe will visit the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from 9 to 12 February 2010 as a Special Envoy of the Secretary-General.

Pascoe will discuss with Democratic People’s Republic of Korea officials all issues of mutual interest and concern in a comprehensive manner.  He will also meet with the United Nations country team and members of the diplomatic corps, and will visit several United Nations project sites.

Pascoe will also visit China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
