Secretary-General Receives Report by International Commission

of Inquiry on 28 September 2009 Events in Guinea

 

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General has received the report by the International Commission of Inquiry on the 28 September 2009 events in Guinea.  The report flows from the work of the Commission in Conakry, Guinea, from 25 November to 4 December 2009.

The Secretary-General is now considering the report, after which it is his intention to promptly transmit the report to the relevant parties, including the Government of Guinea, the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Security Council.
