NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS THIRTY PARTICIPANTS FROM UN SYSTEM IN INFORMATION FAIR:
The annual Inter-Agency Information Fair, organized by the Department of Public Information (DPI), will open on 30 October 1995. The purpose of the Information Fair is to acquaint the public and all those who visit the Organization's Headquarters with the scope of activities undertaken by the United Nations system.
The Information Fair, which highlights the work of the 30 United Nations programmes, specialized agencies and offices taking part, runs from 30 October through 3 November 1995 in the General Assembly Public Lobby. In addition to the brochures, pamphlets and posters which will be available, representatives of the participating organizations themselves will be on hand to meet with visitors, providing more detailed information on the work of their agency or programme.
This year, the participants include: the United Nations Centre for Human Rights, the Department for Development Support and Management Services, the Department for Economic and Social Information and Policy Analysis, the Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development, the Department of Humanitarian Affairs, the Department of Public Information, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the International Labour Organisation, the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat), the United Nations Children's Fund, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the United Nations International Drug Control Programme, the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women, the United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Publications, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, the United Nations University, the World Bank, the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the World Meteorological Organization.
The Information Fair will be opened by the Assistant Secretary-General for Public Information, Samir Sanbar, at 1 p.m. on Monday, 30 October 1995 in the General Assembly Public Lobby. * *** *
