PRESS STATEMENT ON TIMOR-LESTE BY PRESIDENT OF SECURITY COUNCIL


Following is today’s press statement on Timor-Leste by the President of the Security Council, Alfonso Valdivieso (Colombia):


The Security Council was briefed by Assistant-Secretary-General Hédi Annabi on the events that took place in Dili, Timor-Leste, during the last two days.

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS ‘OIL-FOR-FOOD’ PROGRAMME FOR IRAQ FOR 180 DAYS


Resolution 1447 (2002) Adopted Unanimously


The Security Council this evening decided that the measures establishing  the “oil-for-food” programme for Iraq would remain in force for a new period of 180 days.  The programme was to expire tonight at 12 o’clock.

Following is this afternoon’s press statement on Liberia by Wang Yingfan (China), President of the Security Council:


Members of the Council held informal consultations on 25 November 2002 pursuant to paragraph 20 of resolution 1408 (2002), under which the Council decided that it would conduct six monthly reviews of the measures established against Liberia.
