The Security Council today stressed the obligation of all States to prevent and suppress the financing of terrorism, and expressed its grave concern over reports of access to and seizure of oilfields and pipelines in Syria and Iraq.
International, regional and subregional organizations must create partnerships that enable the international community to respond more quickly and effectively to violent conflict, the Security Council heard today, as it unanimously adopted a resolution on the importance of regional cooperation for international peace and security.
The Security Council today, reiterating its concern about the fragile security situation in the north of Mali, called for full respect of the ceasefire agreement of 23 May, while welcoming adoption of a road map committing the Government and armed groups of the Ouagadougou accord to hold formal peace talks.
