NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN JANUARY

19951229 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 January 1996:

SECURITY COUNCIL

Sir John Weston (United Kingdom) will succeed Sergey V. Lavrov (Russian Federation) as President of the Security Council.

At 9:30 a.m. today, the Secretary-General visited the Centre for Research and Studies on Kuwait, which specializes in documenting the history of Kuwait, including the period of the Iraqi aggression.
