SECURITY COUNCIL INCREASES IRAQ'S OIL EXPORTS TO $5.256 BILLION UNDER 'OIL-FOR-FOOD' PROGRAMME FOR NEW 180-DAY PERIOD
19980220Determined to avoid a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Iraq, the Security Council this afternoon decided to permit the import of up to $5.256 billion in Iraqi oil and oil products -- up from the previous $2 billion -- for a new 180-day period under the "oil-for food" resolution 986 (1995).
