Security Council
A. Peter van Walsum (Netherlands) succeeds Martin Andjaba (Namibia) as President of the Security Council.
Military Staff Committee
Without a vote, the General Assembly this morning adopted a resolution on peace, security and reunification on the Korean peninsula. It also discussed its agenda items on global partnerships and on the implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the related General Assembly special session.
The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) met this afternoon to begin its consideration of the protection of the global climate for present and future generations and the United Nations University, and to conclude its discussion of Third United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.
