SEABED COUNCIL SEEKS AGREEMENT ON SCALE OF ASSESSMENTS

KINGSTON, 13 August (International Seabed Authority) -- The Council of the International Seabed Authority agreed in Kingston this morning to appoint an informal group to look for agreement between differing positions on the scale of assessed contributions to the Authority for 2003-04.

FOR TALKS ON NUCLEAR-WEAPON-FREE ZONE


NEW YORK, 12 August (Department for Disarmament Affairs) -- Jayantha Dhanapala, Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, will visit Central Asia from 14 to 26 August.  Mr. Dhanapala will visit Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and will meet with the political leadership of these countries and senior officials.
