Security Council Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee Adds One Name to Its Consolidated List

On 24 August 2010, the Security Council Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee approved the addition of the entry specified below to its Consolidated List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 1904 (2009) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

Activities of Secretary-General in Pakistan, 15 August

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Islamabad on the morning of 15 August, after a flight from New York and a brief overnight stop in Dubai. The Secretary-General was accompanied and briefed by Interior Minister Rehman Malik on the flight from Dubai and was met on arrival in Islamabad by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other Pakistani officials, as well as members of the United Nations country team.

As planning for the United Nations Sixty-Third DPI/NGO Conference continues apace, registration numbers are presently higher than in previous years and attention is now focused on the programme for this flagship United Nations-non-governmental organization event, which, this time, has set for itself the twin goal of galvanizing support for improving global health and achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
