On 19 August 2011, the Security Council Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee decided to remove the name of Mr. Abdul Latif Saleh from its Consolidated List after concluding its consideration of the de-listing request submitted by this individual through the Ombudsperson established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1904 (2009), and after considering the Comprehensive Report of the Ombudsperson on this de-listing request.

On 22 August 2011, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) approved the addition of the entry specified below to its Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 1989 (2011) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations:

The New York Office of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and the United Nations Democracy Fund are pleased to announce the launch of a panel on “Democracy and Development”, on 1 September, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at United Nations Headquarters in New York. This panel, intended for members of Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York, will explore the links between democracy and development and ask whether democracy is a necessary element for economic development.
