Following are UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson’s remarks, as prepared for delivery, at the event marking the first anniversary of the adoption of the Arms Trade Treaty, in New York today:
Member States have begun a series of meetings at United Nations Headquarters to discuss the need for an international instrument that would regulate the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions.
On 31 March 2014, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) concerning Al-Qaida and associated individuals and entities removed the names of the individuals below from the Al-Qaida Sanctions List. Therefore, the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2083 (2012) no longer apply to the names set out below.
