The Under-Secretary-General for Management, Joseph E. Connor, briefed correspondents on the United Nations financial situation at Headquarters yesterday afternoon.
Reports of killings in East Timor were being exaggerated and there seemed to be attempts to vilify Indonesia over its handling of the situation there, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahatir Mohamad, said at a Headquarters press conference this morning.
