The theme of the thirty-eighth session of the Commission on Population and Development, meeting at United Nations Headquarters (Conference Room 3) from 4 to 8 April, will be population, development and HIV/AIDS, with particular emphasis on poverty.

SOKOTO, Nigeria, 1 March (UNFPA) -- By Day 8 of “Fistula Fortnight”, 348 women with obstetric fistula had been surgically treated by a team of Nigerian and international volunteer doctors at four sites in northern Nigeria.  Dozens more women will receive treatment over the two-week period that ends on 6 March.
